It's holiday season, which means the innerwebs are a'buzz with things to do to "finish the year strong" and plan for an "epic" new year. Meanwhile, you're exhausted and probably only feeling motivated to eat popcorn, snuggle up in #alloftheblankets, and catch up on your latest Netflix obsessions for the rest of the year. No judgments here, friend! Even if you never manage to actually leave the couch until January, there are still a few simple, but powerful, things you can do to make sure 2016 is an epic year for your business: 1. Think of how you can bring more of you to your work in 2016When the work you do requires you to constantly show up and perform, it's easy to burnout on energy -- and possibly lose yourself a bit. So a great way to start the new year on a good foot is to simply look inward. Reflect on how you may have given up, been holding back or even hiding your brilliance, creativity, curiosity and genius to serve other people. Then consider how you can shift the way you do things in business so that it supports those qualities, rather than diminishing them. 2. Consider if your clients are really the people you want to serve in 2016You've grown a lot this year. Your expertise has evolved. And with every new experience, you've become smarter, better and more resilient. So as you're winding things down for the end of the year, take some time to do a review of the clients you've worked with. How have you helped them grow this year? How do you see those relationships expanding or evolving over the next year? Are any of them no longer a good fit for where your business is headed? And, if so, how can you transition those relationships in a way that's mutually beneficial? Make sure you're writing this stuff down! 3. Audit your offers and messaging to see if they reflect where your business is headed in 2016While you're thinking about how your client relationships might expand and evolve (or end), keep in mind that the clients themselves are evolving, too. So be sure to also make note of what their goals and priorities are for the next year. Then take a look at your offers to make sure you're addressing the outcomes they want. And review your messaging to make sure you're speaking to their particular desires and challenges. 4. Brainstorm ways that you can build more genuine connections with your people in 2016I'm sure you have folks in your extended circle, with whom you've rarely (if ever) personally interacted. Maybe they're part of your email community, in a few of the same Facebook groups, or hang out on some of the same Twitter chats as you do. Whatever the case, now is as good a time as any to turn them into genuine connections -- you never know where it might lead. Your next big client, powerful collaboration, brand evangelist or business bestie, might be just a simple gesture away. So take a look at who's in your orbit ...
Over to YouHow are you planning to spend the last few weeks of the year? Which of these 4 things are you going to try to make sure 2016 is an epic year for you? Tell me all about it in the comments.
